I tend the read posts from the last one posted backwards (yes I know but it's all about time!) so when I saw your post I thought hec panic that's the currency fair address! Anyhow I've now read the posts and @DominicBest that is awful and @MAD87 that is soooo helpful - it's great to know that there's always someone(s) here on this forum that will post help and information.

On another note I've just received an email from CA to say that from Jan 2023 I can no longer buy online and receive a security code via email due to reasons of security. I have a little old non smart samsung phone so that means I shall reluctantly have to use the smartphone that is OHs which was bought for the reason of buying online and for renewing the passport. I am going to contact CA and tell them that the mobile phone number they have for me is not a smart phone and would they like to advance me some centimes to buy one so that I can 'carry on shopping' (that could be the name for a new carry on film) -

Be careful if you decide to do that. They will bombard you with costly loan offers in order to buy a smart phone.

This smartphone bullying bullsh*t is getting so tedious.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Well if my CA do that, I won't be buying on line. It's a 5km drive to get a secure/guaranteed signal. So by the time I get home the transaction will have timed out.

It's not necessary to have a smartphone, any mobile phone which can receive text messages is adequate.
The number has to be "activated" for this purpose, the procedure is explained when opting for the service.
I have a CA account and for online purchases I receive the text message on my ancient (ca. 2001) Nokia 3330, which is most definitely not at all smart.

If the "Securipass" system via a smartphone App is not activated (e.g. because one doesn't have a smartphone). A second, permanent code, "Securicode" sent by mail is used together with the one sent by text to validate purchases.

I received a leaflet explaining all this in about April this year.

There isn't a lot to choose from. Once you have the max in a Livret A and Livret de developpment there isn't a lot else if you want instant access. My bank did offer term deposits but the rate was useless and I didn't want to have everything in one place.
Someone on another forum mention the Skipton B/soc in Jersey. I did have a look but the paperwork seemed alot and I haven't revisited that.
We opened a joint account with Skipton Building Society in Guernsey in 2020 and have found them really helpful. I agree there is quite a lot of paperwork to complete but once you have done that it is all quite easy. They do the identity checks via Zoom. Easy to contact by phone - no press 1 for this, 2 for that.

@BishyB guess what - we've done exactly the same. Very helpful and informative staff via email and phone and cos we said go easy on us we're knocking on a bit and have never used zoom  and the video tutorials are excellent. I gave them 5 stars.

@Nomoss Maybe my understanding of the message is incorrect and please do correct me (my French isn't that good) but I read it to say that I must get the Ma Banque app on my smartphone or tablette - which I can't do. It doesn't mention that a second code will be sent to my non smart phone or does it?
