Democracies and the right to vote

I don't usually read anything connected with the Connexion but that article was fascinating.
As I live in Brittany and the article mentions a Breton off-shoot I am going to find out what I can as the thought of being able to vote on issues which influence my life here in France appeals to me hugely.

@suein56 Do let us know what you find out - as you say 'issues which influence my life here in France appeals to me hugely' I feel the same.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Thanks Char .. just read through that.
Apparently approx 5000 people applied to sign up before the last Presidential election .. due to the careful screening and matching up process a max of 1500 eventually shared a partnership. Which is really good going for a small volunteer team tho it does show the extent of the difficulties the team faced.
Worth giving it a go though ..

You do see awfully sensitive to any criticisim of the Prime Minister @Ford Focus
Not at all Pathca. However, I was brought up to be respectful to people in Parliament etc. By the way I do not do @! Good night and may your God go with you.

Maybe that's the problem - people feel obliged to respect those in power, even if those in power are not respectable (or honest), and don't deserve our respect. Take this example - my step-dad and his wife didn't have one good word to say about Johnson before he was PM, now it's "our PM this, our PM that", like they've been brainwashed.

People in Parliamant are just that - people, like us. They need to earn respect by their actions, not the position they hold.

You didn't go to the right school - where they're taught that they're above the law, and it's not a lie, it's an alternative fact ..... ;)

Yes it's a pity those who rule in the UK didn't go to a secondary modern, a comprehensive or a grammar school.
