As I said to AtS on another forum a couple of years back apropos XR blocking London - giving a government justification to introduce new laws isn't going to end well - it is like a pendulum and the law has now swung too far the other way - such as the arrest of Westminster Council staff who were carrying personal safety alarms.
So blame XR who felt their right to protest was greater than innocent folks' right to go about their lawful business without hindrance.
As for fizzy horses - I was waiting for someone to come off - and was wondering how the remount in all that garb.

Well I watched it expecting to be uplifted and proud but instead was left flat and somewhat depressed. Perhaps I should have watched the Queens coronation in advance to know what to expect. As it was I was at a loss to what was going on and just saw two OAP's looking frankly terrified whilst wearing a couple of bags of sugar each on their heads. Every time Camilla had to grab hold of a clergyman to negotiate a step I winced. I ended up spending all my time watching Penny Mordent. That woman was the only person in the Abbey who never got to sit down.Holding a sword for two hours whilst in heels, wow.

The Met had received good intelligence that there were at least two lots of protests that weren’t going to end up particularly peaceful, one involved Criminal damage etc and one using rape alarms to scare the horses,They were in a no win situation act early and risk criticism, act too late........

Imagine what injuries could have been caused by panicked horses, not just within the procession but also to those lining the streets. I've no time for these rentamob oiks who turn up for any reason to behave like overgrown children at everything from the Grand National, Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion etc.etc. Just idiots who want to spoil life for the vast majority.

Which is why, I suppose, they arrested three members of the Westminster night safety team at 2am Saturday morning. They had rape alarms

I recorded it in order to watch the bits I was interested in when I got home late last night - I loved the piece by Karl Jenkins 'Crossing The Stone' now off to make some sandwiches for visitors - Coronation chicken - what else

One of those arrested for possession of the rape alarms is on the XR arrest list and has been detained many times previously, I presume he could have turned over a new leaf for the coronationAntonia wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 10:31 amWhich is why, I suppose, they arrested three members of the Westminster night safety team at 2am Saturday morning. People were not arrested for protesting, they were arrested for suspicion of preparing to protest. The question is, when will these powers next be used.
Edited to add I don’t agree with draconian legislation, but the police only enforce the law ,they don’t make it and sometimes it’s about the least worst

The Republic protest was sanctioned by the police. They spent months liaising with the Met. That team were arrested whilst unloading a van at an agreed drop off point and have since been released without charge. The area the police had designated be used by the protestors during the parade was hidden behind hordings so that they wouldn't be seen by the King or the TV audience. With regards to the horses, they seemed quite spooked on their own and at least one bolted into the crowd.Wilbro wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 10:30 am Imagine what injuries could have been caused by panicked horses, not just within the procession but also to those lining the streets. I would agree if he had been on his way to the Coronation but it was 2am and he was working his usual night shift, along with two women who were also arrested. Rape alarms are one of the things they give out to women who work on the streets. Are you saying they should have not patrolled that night? It's the assumption of guilt instead of innocence that worries me. The guy may well have strong views on the environment but not give a flying f*** about the Monarchy. He may well have just been intending to finish his shift and go home to sleep. Instead he was arrested just because he 'might' have decided to cause trouble twelve hours later.
