My one and only visit to Glynebourne wasn't the best : it rained so we all had to picnic inside. The opera was Peleas and Melisande with music by Schoenberg. Dreary costumes and dreary music is all I can remember.
I dislike opera though some operetta isn't too bad. Warbling, over-resounding voices are just horrible. Equally I've never liked the vocal gymnastics of people like Whitney Houston either.

I find the spoken voice very relaxing, and there are so many on there that you can find a voice you " resonate" with - sometimes literally, if you get "shoulder tingle" as I do - and return to that vid' repeatedly.
For relaxation, I find them very useful.
I haven't in fact never heard of ASMR but thanks as I will now check it out.

@MAD87 ah Beethoven much better. We used to go to the Proms at the RAH and once had to listen to Michael Tippet - actually thinking about it that was far far worse for me than Mahler I wanted to run! I have several John Tavener CDs all which I really enjoy listening to especially The Protecting Veil which was the first of his I purchased. I'd been to a concert at Chichester Cathedral where Song for Athene was played with tea lights all around the cathedral it was one of those unforgettable moments. The Cathedral was packed but not a sound was heard other than the choir so I just had to buy more of his CDs.

@Blaze I love operetta especially Gilbert & Sullivan. My friend's grandfather was Gwynn Parry-Jones.

I have never heard of "The Bay." We don't get UK programs sadly. Unless they happen to be on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

That music is beautiful.

Both very haunting songs, they made the little hairs on the back of my neck tingle! I watched The Bay (the first season?) and loved it, and the music. I wondered where I'd heard Lana's song from - it looks like it was used in "3 Body Problem", and excellent series on Netflix.
