Maybe one positive from the cost of living crisis will be that people will have less discretionary spending on CCC. Sadly, however, for many essential spend on food etc will also suffer.

Meanwhile, I see China is, as you say, becoming more expensive so Vietnam is now taking its role as the world's sweatshop - thankfully it seems with slightly better human rights.

There is quality in some chinese work. I have an artist friend who makes excellent work and came to me for advice on patina chemicals and patina and casting methods for his bronze sculptures. He went back to China and had some castings made and patinaed that were of a shockingly good quality I have never seen elsewhere. I bought one work from him and have been trying to reach that quality in art and craft since.

Ironically, anti-globalisation was one of the facets of Trump's agenda. He wanted to restore manufacturing to the USA and even re-open coal mines. His plan was to place tariffs on imported goods. Unfortunately he wasn't able to find any USA citizens who would compete on pay with Mexicans.

Transport Secretary has his work cut out. More chaos at Manchester Airport. Hmmm - nice hot atmosphere, everyone crowded together - no masks - nice breeding environment for Covid to take off again...
