Spring cleaning

#1 Post by L Austin France »

Do folk still do this?
I always thought this was a throwback to the 'good old days' days when spring slowly emerged from the dark, cold winter period & the dust etc gathered over the winter became apparent.
Country living with horses, cat & dog plus hay & staw brought in on our clothes, coupled with a certain ambivalance on my part regarding constant cleaning sometimes means that parts of our house can look like the old wild west with tumbleweed blowing through although these days with modern cordless vaccuum cleaners etc really dodgy dirt spots can be immediately dealt with .
Surely there's no need for any mad onslaught I hope my missus was joking about when she mentioned the dreaded 'spring cleaning'.

Our place is still a building site so I think a Spring clean will have to wait another year or so.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

21 cats and spring cleaning just don't gel as a concept.

I spring clean just before Christmas when the decorations go up and again when the decorations come down - cos decorations collect a lot of dust over a couple of months! When April/May arrives all of the windows inside & out get a thorough cleaning ie sills the volets etc not something I bother to do during winter but other than that it's the usual dust & vacuum - a bit of dust doesn't worry me :D
