Partial Solar Eclipse 25-10-22

For those into such events
Tomorrow there will be a partial solar eclipse across France starting - depending exactly where you are in France - just after 11:00 and lasting about an hour and three quarters.

Solar cover will be between 10-20% - so not exactly spectacular but interesting nevertheless.

Méteo just says it's going to be really cloudy all day here in NE Dordogne, so it'll already be a dark day!

Just don't try to look at it directly without proper solar eclipse glasses or try to photograph it without a proper solar eclipse lens filter.

Guaranteed to be cloudy in Brittany so just another non-event.

It's always cloudy when there's an eclipse !

we managed to see it about 12.30 here in Yonne. Used a pin hole in a piece of paper projected onto the back of an envelope. The "bite" appeared to be at about 8 o'clock on the image.

I was hopeful that we’d see it in Berkshire as the sky was heading for clear at around 09.30h, but it clouded over for a couple of hours, so no partial eclipse.

The last full eclipse was wonderful; we were going to go to Devon, but decided to witness it in France as the forecast for the south-west was poor - my BIL and family who went there saw only cloud. From the campsite we were staying on we drove to an autoroute services not far from Amiens and had a really excellent experience. We sat in our camping chairs with blankets and a single malt, with our nearest neighbour on the car park, a lorry driver, and others sitting nearby all being very convivial.

I’ll never forget it becoming dark, the birds becoming silent and everything so still, then the lovely ‘pearls’ appearing. Such an experience!

We did the same thing Polly, we went to Compiegne, and were under the 100% arc - friends from Uk who caravanned in Devon had similar experiences to your BIL.
Very moving.

Today it was a non-event here, we would have been at the fringe and it was cloudy. Dogs behaving normally and birds still tweeting.
