I think Bricomarche now do something along those lines. As LAF indicates Lidl do box lots of stuff from time to time but Toolstation have boxed selections of washers, nuts and bolts etc at decent prices and free delivery if you spend 40€.

Brico Depot used to do that but I haven't been in there for quite some time so I don't know if they still do. My most useful purchase was the largest size bag carefully stuffed with flatwashers of all sizes for a little over a euro. Still have a few left.

I used to have a friend who lived quite close who had a lifetime’s collection of nuts, bolts, screws and washers which he kept in glass jars in his barn. On more than a few occasions his collection helped me out. When he moved on he left his little goldmine of bits and pieces in the barn. I knew the people who bought the house because I’d been the key holder while it was being sold so the next time I discovered I need a particular non metric bolt I called in to see if the collection still existed. No, they said proudly, we took it all to the decheterie. What’s wrong with some people! 🙂
I have just such a collection in my tiny workshop. Many years worth of odd nuts & bolts in jars of all sizes up to genuine big square sweet jars. Many of them full of new stuff donated by my builder friend when I first escaped to France to renovate my first hovel. More recently I have started putting selections into little ziplok bags to sell at boot fairs. Amazing how many people will buy a pack for 50cts, and great fun explaining (or trying to explain) what some odd-shaped hand tool is actually used for. My past projects have involved many varied processes that often required specialised tools in automotive, metal fabrication, welding, marine, rigging, electrical, electronic, woodworking, paint spraying, etc.
The challenge now is trying to recoupe even a fraction of their value.
Some time ago I managed to give away a heavy duty engine crane to someone who volunteered to help me lift my woodburner into position, and recently I donated an electronic timing light and some brake maintenance tools to someone I know who just bought an MGB.

A nice selection of normal & self locking nuts from M4 to M12.
Might never need 'em but the next time I'm struggling to find a dropped nut my 2,99€ Lidl investment will pay off.

I used to shift quite a lot of bits and pieces through ads in a Brittany expat site but for some obscure reason I was banned so I lost that facility. I never did find out what I did wrong. The site still exists but it has ended up with only a handful of regular contributors that never dare to say anything the least but controversial. I met some nice people when they came to make a purchase.
