I thought I would take a look at this programme last night, filling in before the 1% club. First half was reasonable then he? came out in the most bizarre ball gown which looked as though he had put a bit of the Sydney opera house on his shoulder. I really could not watch any more of it, he looked absolutely ridiculous, anyone else see it

Didn't watch it, just looked it up on YouTube - that's a lot of material!!

If he had gone full drag, like Dame Edna or Hinge and Bracket, would it be more acceptable? Maybe he was going for the Medievil Man look! Very extravagant, but it's the Proms dahlings. ;)

Even full drag wouldn't cushion it, he is a huge slab of a man, and looks ridiculous, but it's what we are all being fed to be the norm these days.

All publicity is good publicity - would you be discussing him had he gone on stage in a suit?

Wasn't he the one who once wore an outfit that looked like he had bad wind in a gimp suit?

Following on from Sam, the Sunday night prom was a typical set. Holst the planets. Everybody knows that one, but before that what I describe as a ‘Bloody Scandinavian tone poem’. My sis was in the audience. She said that was 20 minutes of her life she would never get back.
Many years ago we went to a Cheltenham festival performance of Holst but first we had to endure another tone poem. The audience were given the poem (in Scandinavian language) to follow. I was bored and flicked over the page. Everyone around me looked, saw I had turned the page and turned theirs too. I turned my page back    .
