US English: Why do Brits hate it so?

How to keep reading interesting with today's tsunami of not very pleasant headlines?
Not about disappearing problems and the rise of many new issues, about US English.

Bill Bryson wrote a very entertaining book on the subject, highly recommended. I think it’s called Made in America: An informal history of American English.

Not nearly divided enough! I gave up on UK about 50 years ago when the television content, especially on the commercial channels, became endless American sh1t. Even back then, we were 'promised' 250+ satellite channels but you didn't need a degree to foresee that it would be just like the USA. Quantity not quality.
Re. the language, whether it's English or French, I can't help it, I loathe the so-called 'evolution' of them. At least France does have L'Académie Française to try to protect their linguistic heritage, although I suspect they're fighting a losing battle.

No-one seems to have told the locals here (Lausanne). Mind you, German gets similar treatment.

What do you mean, J? Are they embracing the gallop towards change? :D Integration of new words, that I could accept, but the current descent into illiteracy and textspeak is hard to swallow.

Well here they count properly - but there is way more English involved - no messing around inventing words to avoid using an English word.
