Love the doggie running across the top of the page ! Thank you Char, I had a knackering morning with over twice the usual number of people coming to be vaccinated (but great news !) - the doggie makes me smile !

Some Border Collies do too, and both our Aussies are pretty deaf at 15 and nearly 14. They can hear if I clap my hands, and one hears my piercing 2 fingered whistle ! I have a proper sheepdog whistle somewhere, if only I could find it ....

Some Border Collies do too, and both our Aussies are pretty deaf at 15 and nearly 14. They can hear if I clap my hands, and one hears my piercing 2 fingered whistle ! I have a proper sheepdog whistle somewhere, if only I could find it ....

Yes, my English Setter was pretty deaf, and our lovely Breton too. Neither of them ran more than 50 metres away in the field before turning to see if I was still coming, and, if I was signalling the recall. If I missed my cue, I just turned my back and they thought I was walking away, and came straight back to me. But the Setter certainly, and the Breton probably, became deaf through age. Dalmations have a gene which makes many of them deaf from birth.

And a Greyhound or Lurcher please, as well. There's plenty of room.

Years ago our big gentle Lurcher, Lurch (Greyhound 90% Saluki 10%), came 2nd in a competition to a Dachsund. For a fleeting moment the 2 of them sat together displaying their rosettes. Sadly I didn't have my camera ready.

I've often though that greyhounds/whippets look very much like Dachsies on stilts!

Typical! The dachsie is doing its own thing, being a clown and going in the opposite direction to everyone else.
