Good times? certainly seems a bit ludicrous, but then we should be used to it by now, amazing they can still call those cats on the kitten thread by that name, or indeed the collective name for Fridges, freezers and other large electrical goods might be next.

I bet you were well hacked off when they got rid of the golly on the marmalade weren’t you
The other examples are 1) the breed name ,not used as an insult 2) a description of the colour of the items

Absolutely gutted especially when you could get the little enamel lapel badges, had thousands of them could hardly walk upright, Uncle Bens was the brand name of the product, why take the Uncle away, and lastly I've seen all sorts of colours of "white goods"??

I'm struggling with why the name Uncle can be in any way derogative - maybe it has nothing to do with that. Perhaps he just handed it on to his Nephew, also called Ben! :D

Absolute PC gone bananas, there must be thousands of items which can be twisted around to give a derogatory meaning, especially where race or colour is concerned.

Companies rebrand and change the names of things all the time. It's still the same product I don't know why you're so upset about it.
Do you actually buy the stuff anyway?
