Someone didn't do their calculations right - most of those cars were far from big. Another Highway Control Cockup!

It is a frequent occurrence on Woodmere Avenue in Watford. There is even a YouTube compilation

Why blame the authorities? It's the drivers whose calculation is wrong.

Drivers not knowing the width of their cars causes this problem all over the country. Or drivers not understanding signs and following a bus over an automatic rising bollard. Or overheight trucks hitting bridges despite a legally required sign in the drivers vision stating the vehicle height.

'tis odd isn't it, you would have thought you'd know instinctively that your vehicle wouldn't fit - but I suppose that when you're driving down a road you just assume that there'll be enough space for you.
I'm glad I don't live there though, it would drive me bonkers (well if I wasn't bonkers already that it ;) )

I posted this on another site a while back.

Even a police van was caught on camera 📷 hitting the Watford Gap 🤣

I was surprised by how many small cars were involved. I presume it was edited that way for effect.
I once followed a Lamborghini onto an Eurotunnel train. All the way along it’s bounced from kerb to kerb hitting the expensive wheels. When at last it reached its stopping place both doors opened and the driver and passenger jumped out. Their bad luck hadn’t finished, as the doors scissored upwards they hit the ceiling.
