Well I'm embarrassed to say that I had to give up half way through as I couldn't catch much of what was being said.
It made me realise how much I rely on reading lips and body language to communicate in French - I've found it a bit tricky during Covid with everyone wearing masks.

Wonderful stuff !
Interesting about the lip reading, Char. I think we do it without realising - it's the same on the phone, you can't see the expressions. Also, some people do mumble behind their masks !!

One of the less recognised side effects of Covid, especially if dealing with hearing impaired people ,some of the mimes I have done this last two years would put Marcel wotsisname to shameChar wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 7:53 pm Well I'm embarrassed to say that I had to give up half way through as I couldn't catch much of what was being said.![]()

I absolutely concur with that, I dread my phone ringing in case I am mistakenly rude to someone who I really need to talk to. I usually fall back on 'je suis anglais et aussi un peu sourd, c'est possible de m'envoyer un sms ou mail svp?'
As regards lip reading, yes I am sure I do that too, but also, until a recent 4 days struggling with a new computer's azerty keyboard, I didn't realise just how much of a touch typist I really am. No matter how I stared at it, it was still almost painful to force myself to hit counter-intuitive keys when needing QWAZ and M in particular.
