I just explained that it was an anti fraud thing, and that I needed to confirm that I was still alive so that I could continue to receive my pension. Never had a problem.

I also ask for it in French as a sort of sign of respect for the clerk at the Mairie, It must be understandably awkward to put your name to something which you couldn't even read let alone understand. In effect you could be telling them anything about the content of the form.

Our mairie (or more precisely the secretary to the maire) seems to be very used to certificates de vie and is happy to fill them in when I explain what has to go where. In fairness some of my German ones come as tri-lingual, but others don't.

Ditto here, plus they accept children bringing in those of their v elderly parents with all the info filled in. The Marie does after all hear about deaths.
Feeling a tad sad as I have just received one for me, and it is a year ago that my very aged Mama really went down hill. Morale not helped by my having a hospital appt myself this week on the anniversary of her last admittance there, plus another one with full anaesthetic the week after on the anniversary of the day she died. Sh*t happens.
If I were in the UK goodness only knows when I would have been treated, according to friends over there. They cannot believe how quickly my appts have happened.

despite what we might hear, it's not all bad in the UK. Our SIL was diagnosed with bowel cancer a few days before Christmas. Her surgeon telephoned her at home within hours to tell her they had her booked in for surgery on Dec 31. Op done, she was home the same evening. She's now booked in next week for 3 treatments of brachytherapy and then radiation. All within little more than a month from a diagnosis resulting from a routine test. And what's more - all on the NHS.

Anniversaries of sad times are the hardest Liz and I'm sorry about your mother. I hope your appointments bring nothing but positive news.

Our daughter in the West Midlands is now hoping for her elbow operation, her 6th date since September. The previous five have
all been cancelled.

I needed a routine radiography here in the Correze the other week. Rang Monday, given RDV for the following day, came out with copies of my X-Rays and a full report on Wednesday, all clear.

Some difference!

My sympathy, Liz.

As a new pensioner, since last July, and so new to France could someone please tell me exactly what this life certificate is and when I should expect one?

My good news is that I sent my S1 form off to cpam 3 weeks ago and have just heard that I have been accepted, given a number and that my carte vitale should be with me in a couple of weeks. I had expected it to take a lot longer.
