A couple of years ago we had a shake up around here of the road system in as far as everything got a road name and number, I may be right in assuming that this was more widespread than just our locality. What amazes me is the fact that it doesn't seem to have migrated to delivery drivers GPS, or mappy or any other of the route finding sites on the internet, thereby creating a void for delivery drivers, as the address given does not appear on anything, especially on the Chronopost vans. If you have been re baptised with a name and number are you getting the same or is it just me again?

We've a new number to go with our old adddress to be used with omission of the Lieu Dit bit together with new road signs announcing each sector of what was the old Lieu Dits. All houses have been issued with a plaque showing the new number.
Nothing on the GPS yet for new address but we are near a cross road marked on the GPS & continue to use that as a help for deliveries & rarely have a problem.

Recently acquired a posh new road name (and, unofficially as yet, a number) but as you say, hughnique, it's pretty meaningless until the GPS sites are updated. I did try it out on a recent internet order/DPD delivery, but despite the details appearing on the order, they'd been omitted from the delivery labels and paperwork Vive la France

oooooh don't get me started March 2020 we received a letter from the Mairie to say our road was now rue .........& we no longer used our village name in the address OH went to the Mairie and asked if it was a joke and the reply was 'no'. OH asked from when was this taking place - reply 'immediatement' and that there was no cost to us but we must not use the old address. In a panic we contacted everyone necessary in France & the UK. When it came to changing the address on the ANTS site we had another problem - our reg numbers were old style and not acceptable so we were given new regs (3 cars) that meant new reg plates for each car umm thought he said there'd be no cost! Then of course all the critairs had to be changed another cost small but still another cost. One year later 2021 another letter arrived the name of our road had been spelt incorrectly and we could now if we wanted to use our village name as well as the larger village name - so we had to contact everyone a second time with revised address. Since then parcel deliveries have been a nightmare so much so that we choose pickup points for delivery where possible & I admit to ordering quite a bit on-line. As we are on the corner of 2 main roads we get many van & lorry drivers delivering asking where rue..... is? Yesterday (I check daily on my walk) we still have the old road sign name at each end of the village (yes, I've contacted the Mairie 3 times - no reply so I've given up) I then noticed that another road had had it's road sign changed to another name - there are 3 houses on that road & one small garage where farm vehicles are repaired! The Post Lady asked for a copy of the Mairie's letter as she couldn't believe it to give to her Manager and called the Maire an imbecile! It turns out if you mention his name to the French neighbours they are of the same opinion because our village Mairie was closed a couple of years back and we became part of the larger village. We've not & are not going to change the address on our TdS until the old road signs have been replaced - until we're sure of our address! You cannot google the address it's not there & neither is the old road name. It's been & still is a total nightmare especially for the lady who runs a Chambre d'hote on our road - again we get tourists asking where the road is even a plumber that she'd called out asked us if we knew where she lived Oh dear I've gone on a bit - you did get me started - sorry

None of the GPS systems seem to have updated even though our change was 18 months ago.

Our post code covers 10 villages/towns plus a whole host of hamlets. Unfortunately another of the villages in the postcode area has an identical street name but not the same house number. In some cases I have been able to track the delivery driver going up and down the right street in the wrong village using their own tracking systems. I have even received a phone call from a driver asking where our house is. When I tell him it is in another village, I get the verbal equivalent of shrugged shoulders followed by an "unable to deliver today" email.

It must be such a struggle to move into the 21st century.
We haven't yet made any sort of start in that direction. As well as a delivery address I usually add Lat & Lon coordinates. Sometimes it actually works.

It's come to the stage where Chronopost, in particular, do not even bother to look for the place, I had to go looking for one a couple of days ago, their tracking told me it had been left at the post office in the village, had it buggery, I then had a e mail telling me it was at SuperU, yes it was smashed to bits, so a big refute on that, awaiting refund from Amazon,in the meantime ordered another, so suspect that will arrive damaged. Amazon don't seem to give a toss, customer relations is somewhere in the Punjab, run by robots with a book of excuses. Surely it's not down to me to chase around for a parcel, Amazon should have an immediate connection to the whereabouts of it, and you can't get to speak with anyone in authority, they all hide behind their FAQ lists

Well, in my case it is completely different.

My 'new' address became current about 2 years ago. Online sites all recognise it, it is found on google maps, not had delivery problems and GPS works fine.

When ordering online I give the 'new' address, but also add in somewhere the 'old' address just in case.

I have not changed CDS or Permis de Conduire, as the maire said to only do it when things like that are to be renewed, that the 'old' address will be used for many years, especially by locals.

I wonder if your change coincided with a Google update, p4psb? Certainly on Google Earth, there's quite a time lapse between updates (i.e. years, not months).

We were given a number and a street name a few years ago now, but as we're on a public chemin which turns off of the main road which our address states as our road, it caused a few problems until the delivery drivers got used to it.
