I have just had Covid.

#1 Post by Spectrum »

It started on Sunday and it got worse, I was lethargic, not hungry, and very tired, going to bed at 1600, getting up at 0900 cup of tea, back to bed for a couple of hours, then up for a coffee then back to bed. Hot & cold sweats, uncontrollable shivers, after three day's of no food, manged to eat a yogurt one morning, then another one when I got up again, last night managed a bit of solid food and a few beers, so I knew I was on the mend, this morning, up at usual time 0700, breakfast of a bacon buttie, so will rest today, should be back to A1 Friday, if you get it or have had it you have my sympathy.

Glad you are feeling better, Spectrum. Take it easy, and get plenty of rest. It will pass :D
It's not pleasant and seems to affect everyone differently - the fortunate ones who have the misfortune to catch it are those who are asymptomatic though why that happens to some people and not others is a mystery. Almost everyone we know here has had it, despite being vaccinated (thus reducing the severity of the symptoms) but after 2 years of restrictions, it was inevitable once we all started going out and about, socialising, getting back to a "normal" life.

One of the "advantages" of being fully vaccinated and having had Covid is that we are unlikely to catch it or infect anyone for the moment, though the timescale is unknown.

Good to hear that you're on the mend - take it easy and take care.

Good to hear that you are on the mend.

My advice would be to get back into your stride gradually rather than the I will be fighting fit tomorrow. The virus has a habit of draining your reserves and while you may feel A1, after a few hours of over doing it you will be back in bed.

Sorry to learn you caught the lurgy Spectrum but happy to know that the worst seems to be over.

There have been government announcements on the radio recently about getting second boosters done and encouraging everyone to make appointments. I tried this morning but it seems there are no Covid centres currently in Charente. :(

Has anyone been successful in getting 4th vaccinations done?

In our area the only options are doctors and pharmacies but the difficulty is finding one who will do it.

I asked at the doctors earlier this week and apparently our village nurses are doing it, but not the pharmacy as advertised on the local information board.

Good to hear you've managed to get through the worst of it in a few days. :D

Last Sunday a large group of people gathered outside (I assume ramblers) and one of their party knocked on my door. I assume he was going to ask for directions or something equally reasonable. He immediately advanced to about 50cm of my face and started in.......... I instantly held up both hands to stop him coming any closer and said "Distance SVP!" He backed off just a little and jabbered something about "it's OK I've been vaccinated". At that point I said something very naughty in English and slammed the door in his face.

I really must learn some French swear words. :?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

It's my experience that "F OFF" is understood by most, if not all, French folk. :)
