Here are a few that seemed interesting. I did notice that a lot of the homes in this area have rather low (sometimes very low DPE energy ratings). Anyone know if there is any particular reason for this?

This looks nice, but the town may be a bit too remote. I see a lot of étangs in this region. Do they cause mosquito problems ?

How can this be 215,000€ ? It may need a few changes in decor and a touch of exterior upkeep, but it looks rather nice to me. Is it considered in the middle of nowhere ? It would sell for around 600,000€ round here.

Personally, I'd steer clear of Rochechouart: pretty village, mini English colony but blighted by the smell from the paper factory at Saillat.

I don't think we have a problem with mozzies here.
The first house (Oradour) has a fosse rather than mains drainage.
As for the others, energy performance depends on the overall measures to reduce consumption, type of system and insulation. And how the inspector is feeling that day.

I’ve been over near Limoges twice recently. The temperature was high 30°s both times so a pool would be no problem. In fact I’ve delayed a short holiday near Argentât because for the week I wanted to go it would have been too hot to enjoy. The winters can be pretty cold around there though. I did go camping east of Limoges, at Millevaches, last December, on a motorbike, in the snow and it was quite cool. I love the countryside around there and Limoges itself is well placed for good transport links.

I saw several really nice homes in the Millevaches area. I just felt it must be really remote/isolated. Beautiful though.

How can this be x price,
Having lived in PACA for 10 years the overpricing is staggering compared to other areas of france.But people want to live there.The houses are no better or worse then anywhere else in the country .

Yes, it has gotten much worse recently. I'm tired of looking for something decent. It has become very clear that the region is too far above our budget. We must move on. Where?, not sure.

I needed to get my place valued as part the succession process and was quite staggered by the amount, I will need to do some minor works if I decide to sell. It’s all about location, location, location. I will end up selling because house and land is too big. Problem is I don’t want move because of the location and climate pulse family nearby. So, it’s downsize or rent a place. We shall see. The market is most definitely a sellers market here at the moment, despite all the woes

Plenty of tennis clubs/courts in the Haute Vienne (& other Limousin departments).
I play twice a week at a thriving club 10 minutes away.

Also, a £300,000 budget would buy you a lot of house.

I think if I were buying again I would look at the area west of the A20 in the Perigord-Limousin national park, or as you mentioned Lori, the Millevache area is beautiful.

Dave W. mentioned it being a buyer’s market just now. I mentioned to a friend that we were just beginning to think about selling our apartment sometime in the future.

A couple of days later an email arrived from a complete stranger wanting to know the dimensions of our apartment and the approximate price. Granted it seems that the woman wants to live in our building as she apparently has a friend living there and visits, swims in our pool etc, but it seemed rather odd and rather pushy. Quite a shock too, as we’d only vaguely started thinking and it suddenly seemed to have become real.

@Polly How did she get your email address ? We sold a flat in Paris a few years ago and the estate agent hadn't even put the details in the window. It's times like this when sellers of desirable properties can ask silly prices but it also inflates the housing market.
