On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Back on topic ..
We bought a compact ladder-type electric towel rail from Lidl last year, came with a fitted plug, is thermostat controlled and with an on/off switch.
It also has a 2 or 4 hour option button .. so useful for those chilly mornings. Uses 150watts and heats our small shower-room well.

I have bought the heated towel rail and it says it must not be installed with a plug but with a permanent fixture with a switch. I have looked through various sites and have found various “sortie de cñble” but none with a switch. What can I use?
2. The appliance has no earth which is a surprise. It is made in Italy

Must be double insulated & will have a little picture showing a square within a square to confirm this.

Rabbit,
I get quite a few electrical bits and pieces from Amazon.co.uk especially big ampage switches for ballons l'eau chaude, surface boxes for electrical sockets, etc that are very expensive or not easily available over here (RA will know if this is leagal or not). The prices are usually good and delivery reasonable. I saw a unit like you want at ÂŁ8.99 and ÂŁ4.20 delivery. Someone sent me two football programmes from the UK last week and the cost was almost ÂŁ6!

Try putting in "DP Switched Fused Spur 13A with PVC Flex Outlet" and have a look. Sometimes Amzon.fr understands searches entered in english but I wouldn't be hopeful.

Supposing that there is a French socket, why not buy a simple "fiche avec interrupteur" ? You don't have to switch on or off much power, probably about 500 W (2 amps).

Would that type of switch be OK for bathroom use where wet hands might be tempted to use it?
