UK Border Force Strikes

For those wanting / not wanting visitors this Christmas, this may be bad / good news.

Ditto for those travelling to the UK over Christmas:

Border Force staff to strike at airports including Heathrow and Gatwick over Christmas

Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union announced staff will strike for eight days over pay and conditions from December 23

About 1,000 Border Force staff who are members of the PCS union will take action over the eight days at Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, and Cardiff airports. The Port of New Haven will also be affected.

It looks like Calais, Dunkirk and Eurotunnel are not on the list - maybe as checks done in France?

BIL was supposed to come over for a week or so around Christmas. No flights anyway to this neck of the woods at this time of year. His choice of vehicle is too expensive to run and not reliable enough to make the journey. He contemplated trains - but let's not even go there! That's without sorting out the necessary paperwork now needed ......

Shame, travelling to and fro used to be a piece of p*ss.

It still was for me in September,traveled to France and back and the only thing checked was my passport,apart from said passport getting stamped there was nothing different from the previous times I had traveled

I have to say the last time I travelled - end October / start November - it was all OK as well. The biggest issue is I have yet to get on a Eurotunnel train that is on time.
