I ordered a few bits and pieces two days ago (Friday) from Amazon, expecting them to be delivered some time next week when blow me, white van man arrived about half an hour ago with the delivery.
Fantastic service and I didn't know they delivered on a Sunday ....

I am helping my daughter with DiY in London this weekend.

Amazon, for all their faults, offer a good delivery service on items in their local distribution centre - some items I can order now (17h30) and they will be here before mid-day tomorrow. I have had three sets of items delivered today (Sunday).

And guess what - no parking charges, no driving hassles - local authorities need to wake up before their high streets die.

I agree, J. Parking, getting to a shop and finding they haven't got exactly what you want/run out, really annoying if you've driven any distance.

I send off for things I can't find locally : new straps for a couple of Swatches, replacement parts for various things, finger splints, raised dog beds (absolutely brilliant). We've seen an improvement in Amazon's packaging recently.

Covid increased my use of Amazon hugely and it’s continued at a similar level since, often for similar mundane items already mentioned.

I don’t go to shops nearly as often as pre-covid and those near us don’t stock many of the items I find we need, such as the Velcro circles that arrived from them last week, which are now in use preventing my shoulder-bag straps falling down.

I used to feel rather guilty about using Amazon but if it’s the only way to obtain things I need, then so be it. Yes, there’s improved and less packaging these days, and I usually wait until I need several items and order them together.

Same here, I'm an Amazon convert and they are normally my first port of call. A week ago a I received a jar of Chutney which at some point had been dropped and the lid opened. Quick email and a replacement was on it's way free of charge no questions asked. It arrived the following day.

We're both Amazon Prime users with delivery usually in 2-3 days but often venture further in the e commerce market.
We'd normally buy 'leccy fence tape etc from our local agri shops but having discovered our usual prefered tape out of stock at all 3 local stores & fed up with driving around we had a look at online alternatives & found an Agri merchant selling the required product at a vastly reduced price to that we normally pay locally.
8 x 200m rolls of tape purchased with very reasonable delivery charges saw the tape on our doorstep 4 days later including a weekend.

I check Leboncoin for many things before buying new on Amazon.

It's surprising how many things I have found there in perfectly good condition.

There is usually a good selection of good quality kitchen and ovenware, maybe unwanted gifts.
