Wow ! I've never seen that.

I was warned 32 years ago that gas bottles always run out on a Sunday. Not funny when it happens!

Or, in the case of mobilhoming, when you're under the shower covered in soapsuds! I remember it well....

Oups...thread drift! BBQ tonight. Filet for me, Basse côte for OH, with the obligatory asparagus and jacket pots.

One of these each this evening. Fancied making some oggies but didn't have any steak in the freezer so used minced beef. Dunno what they'll taste like but us'll see.

Oh they look delicious ! Much more exciting than our dinner will be.

We're having a big salad (topped with the usual greens, cukes, tomatoes, carrot, red onion, red bell pepper, mushrooms and fresh mint) with some feta on top and a huge fresh steamed artichoke for each of us.

I had my doubts but indeed they were.
Mrs LAF said it was the best oggies I'd made (make of that what you will :) ) & she prefered them to diced steak. The consistancy was good & the taste excellent.
Not yer true Cornish Oggy m'ansomes but I'll deffo make 'em again using mince instead of steak. Cheaper as well apparently.

They look very tempting - and have proved to be delicious. What type of pastry did you use?

We had venison burgers with new potatoes, carrots and broccoli.

I think it's some form of shortcrust pastry from a recipe I found yonks ago.
I use 670 gm bread flour, salt, 170gm butter & 160 gm Atora lard (50/50 beef & vegetable) plus about 230cc water. this makes enough for 8 x 20cm disks, each about 130 gm, plus some left over which I freeze & use with next batch.
It holds up well whilst cooking & mrs LAF, whose mum was a cracking pastry cook, says it's really good pasty pastry. She always takes the wee wee when I cook 'cos I'm an engineer, not a cook, & like to weigh stuff out. I even weigh the filling & divide by 8 to get exact quantities per oggy.
Anal? ...of course
