The Isetta was one. I had a couple before I passed my test. Had the pleasure of rolling it over. It came back on its wheels, fortunately.
My Isetta had 4 wheels. 😀😀

@ Spardo, what about the Messerschmitt KR175 and KR200 Kabinenroller? No real reverse ("kein Rückwärtsgang vorhanden") in the first production runs. But, translation from this German website: " Since there was no reverse gear, the two-stroke engine was started in reverse for the necessary reverse drive. The ignition key was inserted and turned. Now the engine turned clockwise and all four gears could be used for driving forward. When the ignition key is inserted, pressed and turned at the same time, the engine runs anticlockwise. This means that you can also drive backwards in all gears, theoretically as fast forwards as backwards. A mechanical reverse gear was only available at extra cost."

My parents used to have a sailing cruiser with twin inboard engines made by Dolphin. Turn the key one way and they ran forward, turn it the other way and they ran backwards. They worked really well but it was always worrying when needing to go astern as you had to stop the 2 stroke engine and re-start it backwards hoping that they would fire up straight away. Amazingly they always did. They were great light auxiliary engines for a sailing boat but being 2-stroke petrol engines they were far less economical with the regular Diesel engines.

Would that have been the reliant Regal - which was the predecessor of the reliant robin?
Yes, I think so.

Not about voitures en France, not about the weather. But what a beautiful summer's day it was! And what an impressive king of the road in its day! And still is, a Scania Super 8, the Torpedo:
