Home alone again

#1 Post by L Austin France »

Mrs LAF is en route to Australia to visit her bro. & recently installed grand daughter.
Having spent my working life in a very busy people environment I'm more than happy with my own company for a week or so when she goes to the UK to visit family but this time she's off for best part of a month.
With the internet it's easy to talk to her but it's not the same as the usual face to face banter/bickering that's been part of our lives for a long time.
I'm more than happy for her to visit her bro. but I've no wish to go with her if for no other reason than I can buy a decent modern motorbike/car for the price of the business class flight she's booked  & someone has to look after the cats & horses.
Thing is, a month alone is a long time after being with someone for so long.
Any suggestions what I can do with my new single status? ;)

Let it be a lesson about what it will be like when finally one of you is left alone. Whilst I accept my husband died just over 8 months ago, I just can't accept that I will never see him again. Breaks my heart every day. So make sure she knows you love her.

Oops! Well that put a damper on my thread which was meant to be light hearted about finding things to do when 'home alone' for a few weeks.
I'm sorry about your loss mangetout .

Heartbreaking Mangetout. Virtual hugs to you.

L Austin - When I am on my own (not that often), I always enjoy watching TV shows the other half doesn't like, eating foods he doesn't like and eating whenever I feel like it. I also don't hesitate to go out and do a bit of window shopping (probably a ladies thing) and visit regional sites he isn't interested in seeing. Not too exciting, but I always enjoy those little bits of change.

@L Austin France When I saw the way the thread was going, it put me off posting. I assumed it was meant to be light)hearted .... As a service wife for over 40 years, I spent a lot of time as a grass widow, sometimes up to 3 months at a time.

OH and I enjoy our independence, time alone and have never lived in each other's pockets. Time on your own means you can run your life as you please - you could nip out and get that motorbike  Of course we do some things together but we both dislike being considered as joined at the hip.
OH went off on a long trip and as soon as he'd gone, I was in the car to go and collect new dog, secretly arranged with a friend. Nice surprise for OH on his return

Enjoy the moment of freedom - indulge in the things that annoy your OH : Leave the top off the toothpaste, leave the loo seat up, turn up the music and just have fun

Sorry if I put a damper on your thread. You do tend to see things differently when you're grieving. I promise to be more upbeat in the future, honest :D
