Whereabouts in France is your preferred holiday destination?

There's so much to see all over
We have only lived here for 34 years and havn't seen much yet but when seeing a place on tv are always saying. Been there.

Agreed. France has so much to offer. If we ever finish renovating our hovel before going belly up we would like to explore some of it.

The Vendee. A nice caravan/camping/chalet park run by the daughter of petanque friends in Leicester. Married to the owner she herself was an international in the sport before 'settling down'. Before covid we went there every year and were accorded the special privilege of having our dog in the normally forbidden chalets.

A 1 km walk over sand dunes to the totally empty beach and the sea was a perfect early morning walk for whichever dog(s) we had at the time and a brief swim in the breakers and back in time for breakfast. Honorary membership, along with usually Leicestershire visitors, at the local petanque club brought us into association with lots of new friends from all over France and I participated in many of their competitions.

I am mildly surprised that, on a forum frequented by francophiles, there have been so few comments. Maybe I just phrased it badly!

I suppose I had better anwer my own question. Our French destination of preference is Martinique. It is just so different. A little piece of France off the coast of Central America. Next time we go weI'll try to organise a two centre visit taking in Guadaloupe as well. We have family living in the USA and Canada and the Antilles make an ideal meeting place being, sort of, halfway between all of us.

Well you did say whereabouts in france, not outra mere.
If its overseas then for us its down under in Aussie, W.A. as have family there and have visited it twice. 1976, and 2019 for 3 months each.
Had planned to go again this year for our 25th but covid stopped that.
I would have emigrated back in 76 but my first wife refused even though our two children wanted to go as well.

My first wife and the children were all in favour of our bid to become ten pound Poms. It was foiled though by the necessity to find her first husband who had disappeared after a prison sentence, his permission was needed for the children that were his.

Being French, I've been on holidays in almost all the regions of France. All depends on what you call "holidays"... Being a lover of nature, wild animals, long walks in places which are not packed with tourists, my preference goes to the Massif Central (Corrèze, Cantal, Dordogneshire, Lot, etc...). There, you could spend years visiting medieval castles, pretty villages, caves, lakes and dams, fantastic landscapes and rivers... Ideal places also if you like fishing. And the food !!!
Now, I'm on holiday all year in the Vendée Nice climate, beaches, countryside and sun (less crowded than the Mediterranée)
