Trestle

#1 Post by L Austin France »

The other day a flyer from Lidl showed trestles at a price I thought worth buying.
The picture showed what looked like a pair so off I went to purchase them.
When I got there I made a beeline for the centre aisle to find that the trestle was being sold as a single item so price not so interesting.
I even opened a box (naughty) to check there weren't two trestles in it but no, just the one.
Seriously ! who buys one trestle
Any road, it wasn't all bad news.
I came away with a nice little box containing various sizes of nuts, a bag thing to arrange junk in car boot, two half price frozen pizzas & a reduced price bag of frozen Arancini. :D

Ha you fell for the trestle deal to get you in the shop. Sounds like it worked as you did spend.

A trip to Lidl is never a wasted journey.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

What's a trestle ??

Yes, I've fallen for similar Lidl ads. And yes, I always end up walking out with many 'other' unintended items in the cart.

Being in building all my life I still have at least six of these trestles.
Saw the Lidl add and thought it was at a good price for one.

Well I hope even at my old age I wouldn't buy just one.

I like the sound of the box containing a selection of nuts. I used to have a friend who lived quite close who had a lifetime’s collection of nuts, bolts, screws and washers which he kept in glass jars in his barn. On more than a few occasions his collection helped me out. When he moved on he left his little goldmine of bits and pieces in the barn. I knew the people who bought the house because I’d been the key holder while it was being sold so the next time I discovered I need a particular non metric bolt I called in to see if the collection still existed. No, they said proudly, we took it all to the decheterie. What’s wrong with some people! 🙂

Years ago, one of the brico shops sold nuts, screws, washers and bolts by weight. They had different sized bags which you could fill and mix to your heart's content. We bought loads of different sizes which have been incredibly useful over the years. I don't know if any bricos still do this today ...
