I wonder if it was related to the earthquakes in Naples yesterday evening?

Weather ... again
I am not aware of any direct faults linking the 2 sites and Campi Flegrei has been suffering increasing shocks for several months.
Having said that, Africa is slowly moving towards Europe and that is responsible for all of the seismic and volcanic activity along the South of Europe from the Pyrenees right the way through to Türkiye. (for some reason my machine does not like turkey with a capital T). So in that respect there may be a link with perhaps pressures building up - much as we may be seeing around the SW section of the ring of fire in the Pacific.

Weather ... again
I've noticed a pattern here lately. Meteo France will post the forecast for tomorrow (24 hours in advance of any given day) showing mostly sunshine with perhaps a few clouds (no rain). Then on the morning of the given day, orages are posted for nearly the entire day/night - and those, in general do arrive. It has been that way here for about 2 weeks now.
I just don't get it. How can it be THAT difficult to forecast the weather 24 hours in advance ?
And last night heavy rains fell for the most part of the night with thunder and lightening - not forecasted.
I imagine the Dordogne and the Vezere will soon be overflowing their banks at this rate.

Looks like a case of expect the worst, but hope for the best. Sign of things to come...

"Dr Sarah Kew, a researcher at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute and also part of the WWA team, said: “The UK and Ireland face a wetter, damper and mouldier future due to climate change. Until the world reduces emissions to net zero, the climate will continue to warm, and rainfall in the UK and Ireland will continue to get heavier.”
Seems like we can include France in that prognosis (if that's the right word!) and probably other European countries.

@Lori
The Dordogne here further upstream than you is the highest we've seen in it the 17 years we've been here. Very high in Argentat and I suspect the barrages at Le Chastang and Bort-les-Orgues are brimming although I've not seen them.

I have a driving lesson today in Terrasson. I'd be very surprised if the Vezere has not overpassed its banks.

Weather ... again
I've created a new saying for the weather - It's not pouring hard with rain, it's water-falling (seriously the last few days has been like walking underneath a waterfall). When the sun does pop out it's blazing hot, which then makes it really muggy and yet another thunderstorm appears. I'm starting to quack.
I think the river Creuse has forgotten where it's banks are supposed to be.

@Lori thunderstorms are difficult to predict at the detail level and my recommended Norwegian site does not try to do it but you can judge the likelihood if you look at the hourly forecast rainfall. If you have say 3mm forecast to fall in one hour as we have on Saturday, it is likely to be storm cloud conditions and thunder could well be associated.
