I love looking at the Zoom Earth site, but I'm not used to seeing this new graphic! There was one called Isaac last week, that has dispersed itself to the west of the UK, but this may just hit us soon. That explains the lousy forecast of a wet, windy week coming up! This one is called Kirk.

Kirk. That famous womaniser and starship captain.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

The one below Kirk in the image is called Leslie, so maybe they're working backwards through the alphabet!

Joyce is located about 1,325 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. It was moving northwest at about 13 mph.

Forecasters said the storm was expected to strengthen gradually through Sunday before weakening early next week.

While there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect for either storm, the waves from Issac could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions in the Azores, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said Friday.

A storm in a teacup it seems.

Looks like Cap'n Kirk is set to hit some of us today. The worst looks slightly North of us, so keep safe out there folks who are right in the firing line. :?
