Weather ... again

#441 Post by Headers »

I’ll guarantee wet weather for the next couple of weeks as we are off on our annual holiday. For the past five years we have been away from late April to late may for 10 days. I’ve moved the holiday progressively later each year with no success in finding sunny weather . Looking at the forecast for this years escape it is rainy all the way through.

Sod's Law at work again. Our holiday in early June last year was marred by very strong winds and rain and as we're going away in our caravan towards the end of May for 2 weeks, it looks as if we could be struck again by bad weather. We would normally have chosen the second 2 weeks in June but will be working at Hellfest, a big rock festival near Nantes. We were hoping to have a couple of weeks of R&R beforehand ......

Sunny and pleasant, 21C and a cool north-easterly breeze; cloud was forecast to roll in during the afternoon but the sun stayed with us.

Sounds as if things were less pleasant in the Var.

Mediterranean storms are not uncommon but loss of life is always to be regretted.

I saw that yesterday, awful. I remember camping down there years ago and such flooding was unimaginable then. It's the suddenness of these storms that takes everyone by surprise. Material things can often be replaced, but lives cannot.
Sudden, severe storms and flooding seem to be on the increase - climate change ? Or are they publicised more ?

I hope everyone is ok this morning? That was one humdinger of a storm last night, something for everyone but not in a good way.

I see so far, we have a big tree down in one paddock, I'll be off the investigate further later. The sound of the wind storming through the valley was really frightening so I imagine there'll be others that were in it's direct path.

Yes, we next door had the same storm - didn't stop me from dropping off though. A bit cooler this a.m.
