Glad you're okay Bayleaf. Also glad the evacuees were able to return home. Really scary the dry earth. The slightest thing can set it off and once lit, spreads in seconds.
I was very surprised the fireworks in the surrounding towns were not cancelled. Doubly glad there seems to have been no fires started as a result of the celebrations.
YES !! Let's hope the forecasted rain arrives !!

Glad you're okay, Bayleaf and that no-one was hurt. I've seen a combine catch fire in a field - dry straw on a hot manifold. The driver had just finished. It was scary and the fire spread at an astonishing speed so it was fortunate it was "just" stubble.
Remember when stubble used to be burnt ??
Fireworks in our department were banned for "particuliers" due to the hots weather and risks associated.

We all need rain its so dry, however if you see a bloke watering his garden with a hosepipe, please dont jump to conclusions, it might be me, I have 10,000 Lts of underground storage tanks and a big electric pump Iam down to my last 4000Lts so they need topping up, one millimetre of rain on the house roofs gives me about 300lts of water, only had 2mm in June, nothing this month.

Lovely rainbow this morning over a very parched garden.

We had terrific storms the night before last with a lot of rain - which was very welcome. More rain last night but no thunder, with more rain forecast. The cooler weather is also very welcome, it's much easier to work in.

Perhaps it was your storm that arrived here last night .. the rain was torrential for about an hour. More heavy showers this morning interspersed with bright sunny
Hopefully this might have done a wee bit of good in the potager.

We haven’t had rain for at least 7 weeks and everything is baked, luckily no hose pipe bans because to keep the tourist trade several lakes/dams were created in the pre-alps behind us and that foresight has done us well. I’ve been waiting all day for the predicted thunderstorms and rain, not today. Doesn’t really matter because the storms have dumped all the rain in the pre-alps and not made it to the coastal region but topped up the lakes. I’m just watching a squirrel taking a drink from the swimming pool, they are frequent visitors.
But I would really enjoy a good downpour, so would the garden.

We've had a few good drenchings over the last few days but tbh we need a couple of weeks of steady heavy rain.
