Chronopost deliveries

n't Coli Privé the one that's had so many arnaques ? I've dumped several spams from them, including a photo of "our" colis. Knowing we haven't ordered anything online for a while, they weren't destined for us, just the bin.

Nomoss wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 11:55 am Our house is on the main road about 500 m from the centre of a small town. The street name is clearly marked; the number is on both the house and the gate to the driveway and garden.
La Poste and associated drivers have learnt to deliver to the kitchen window on the street, as the entrance door is through the garden, but no-one has problems to actually find the house.
Except Colis Privé drivers.

The first time they couldn't find us I sent CP a picture with arrows indicating the numbers on the house, postbox in the garden wall, and entrance gate.
Subsequent drivers threw parcels over the wall or hedge, landing on and damaging pot plants, or becoming hidden in tall herbs.

Recently one of us has sat by the window on watch around 5 pm, their usual time, and seen the driver(s) stop opposite and get into the back of the van.
Parcels then fly out to land in the street until they reappear to gathers them up - our cue to shout and wave.

I was on watch on Wednesday when the house phone rang, so I left my post to answer it. "This is the livreur" - "Where are you" - "Outside" - "Please come to the window"

On returning, there was no-one there, no van anywhere in the street, and the house phone doesn't record numbers, so I could do nothing.
I checked my email later, and saw "Delivery attempted today at 6:11 pm. Unfortunately Colis Privé ran into an issue when attempting your delivery. They will try again"

They didn't.
I managed to find a link via tracking to redirect the parcel to a relais point. They are closed until Monday, but I should get it eventually.

After succeeding in speaking to a person at Amazon Fr. yesterday I poured out the above tale and asked for no more deliveries to me to be made using Colis Privé.
I was told this is not possible, but there may soon be an option to choose delivery companies, and was given the impression that something may be done about CP.
Colis Privé have stopped delivering in our area, i guess problems with drivers, now, anything that is shipped Colis Privé always arrives via la poste, the postman delivers, then we get an delivered email from Colis Privé.

Colis Prive must have taken their drivers from DPD who used to be the worst of the lot. For some odd reason the Germans seem to favour them but perhaps that is only for "local" deliveries. Once the goods get to France it is a lottery.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Chronopost deliveries

No different this side of the channel, will say that during our French adventure, Chronopost was far and above the worst. There seems to be a different system, yes I know home delivery exists in France, but the number of food trucks that pass our new abode on a regular basis is incredible, be it any of the high street well known names or the more up and coming outlets. Personally I wouldn't trust any of them as far as date codes are concerned, and I prefer to see what I am buying in the flesh, especially the pleasure of the extendable arm going behind the shelf front runners and snatching another example concealed behind with a more generous date on it. Aldi is a different kettle of fish here, shop is bright neatly laid out and modern, not like our French equivalent , which we compared to a jumble sale.
I did order a self assembly freestanding plastic rack system the other day via Amazon, which we were quoted quite a lengthy delivery time on, when looking again, it was being delivered by Yen Express, so thought it must be coming from China, it did, however arrive in two days. Impressed with the item we ordered another two, one arrived and after a heated row with the pig ignorant refugee driver, I complained to Amazon, evidently from a third party seller nothing Amazon can do but give a refund which I accepted. Next day the 2nd one arrived and was left on the step, ordered another two which arrived, evidently all were sent from Edinburgh, one of which was missing a small assembly part which didn't really effect the assembly too much, but thought might as well ask for the bit to be sent out, again third party seller all we can do is get a refund, yes please. So ended up with 5 and paid for 3.
Another difference is the returns policy from Amazon, no printing out labels, boxing it back up just take the item in to one of several supermarkets, show them a QR code, which I have finally managed to comprehend, they print off the label and take it from there. Some things are easier here but still yearn for the French pothole free roads, it really is a disaster on UK carriageways.
