Whatever your political colour, it's a sad day for any country when an elected representative can't do his or her job in safety.
The same applies to teachers in France - yesterday was the first anniversary of Samuel Paty's murder. Earlier in the week, another teacher was assaulted in class. She is 60.

Whether in the case of the British MP or the French professor and other recent cases, rather than saying "stabbed to death", maybe we could use other terms closer to reality ? It is in fact a "death penalty" applied by a self-proclaimed judge and executioner in the name of the law of an obscure religion in countries where DP has been abolished for years.
Anyway, my deepest condolences to the family of Sir David Amess and to all the British people.

Perhaps the term "assassination" would be more appropriate than "death penalty". A murder carried out for political or in this case, religious reasons.

It shows that Sir David had a fantastic sense of humor, IMO.
"Les croisés" (the crusaders) is the name which is given by Islam fanatics in France to French people (surely you heard it if you have stayed in the Department 93, North Paris).
Is it why this murderer choosed Sir David as a target ?

No, what Sr David Amess is wearing has no connection with the Crusaders. He is dressed as a knight in armour but without looking it up, I can't tell you which arms he bears.
According to the BBC :

The Metropolitan Police said there was a potential link to Islamist extremism. A 25-year-old British man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

But as Pathca has pointed out, it's early days and we should not jump to conclusions. It is not yet known why Sir David was a target.

I understand that it takes time to complete investigations.
But it often takes too long ! For example, Salah Abdeslam is currently on trial for having organized the serial murder of Bataclan (130 deaths 413 wounded) 6 years ago !!! He has admitted his crime and he's proud of it ... Why try to find out all the little details ?
In the meantime, time passes and people forget: it allows the government to "put the dust under the carpet" and not to take firm decisions to avoid future attacks !

How can you avoid further attacks? There will always be fanatics/lunatics ready to strike against public figures.
