There was a time when those who were genuinely hard up were among the most loyal supporters of the Royal Family but perhaps attitudes in the UK have changed. Perhaps I've lived away from there for too long.

I risk getting jumped on for this, but people's perception of what they actually need/should have/deserve has changed over the years. There is a tendency to complain of "hardship" when wanting what others have, or an inability to live within their means.

There are many who will thoroughly enjoy watching the Coronation and have the memory of it for the rest of their lives.

Did anyone think to secretly cross their fingers when doing so?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

@Blaze : I get you! The French believe that holidays are necessary.
@Antonia : I've never figured out what the status of the Channel Islands is. Is it not a UK protectorate?

@Mad , the Channel Islands are part of Great Britain but not part of the UK.

The late Queen was always refered to as The Duke Of Normandy.

This link explains it.

@Antonia - fellow Channel Islander here.

Moi, je suis un crapaud!
