Now Cardiff has problems - they cannot charge their electric bin lorries off the grid.

Luckily, they were able to bring in some diesel generators to do it.

@ Char and Niemeyjt,

Also some problems in the once foggy and rainy lowlands behind dunes and dikes.

A quote from one of the many alarming signals.

" Zeeland's power grid is also full, large consumers join waiting list.

Large companies in Zeeland cannot get a new power connection for the time being. The electricity grid is full, reports grid operator Tennet. Large consumers who want to extend their existing connection will have to wait, as will newcomers. There is still room on the grid for households and smaller companies.

The growing demand for hydrogen factories, large batteries and the electrification of industry means the demand for more power transmission can no longer be kept up, Tennet says.

The grid operator currently has a request for 3.5 gigawatts of additional power. "That is comparable to eight times the current consumption and three times the current capacity of the province of Zeeland," Eefje van Gorp of Tennet told NOS Radio 1 Journaal.

Waiting list.
The province's current high-voltage grid was not designed for this level of sustainability. Work is under way to expand it, but the demand for more electricity is moving much faster than the grid can be expanded, Tennet said. "

Source.

Probably this is on an index of forbidden publications. Not green enough.....old school thinking.

Under construction in Zeeland, not enough, drop in the ocean? Planning takes about ten years.

I'm wondering how the rest of the country is getting on in this respect. A little more than a year ago we (in France) were hearing warnings that because of a poorly devised maintenance schedule several of our Nuclear power plants were taken off line at the same time, risking power limits in the following winter. Thinking ahead when large numbers of people are forced to "go electric" problems like this will become more common.

If the cause was an EV battery then how long before restrictions on ferries and the tunnel?

Ohm's Law? Resistance is futile.

A slight diversion from the topic concerning "range anxiety".

This all is a bit beyond my ken, at least the technical bits. What I do know is that the so-called greens have a lot to answer for, and those mayors who swallow their guff wholesale.
At least I had the good sense to consign the Greens to the bureau de vote bin years ago. Tossers.
