Daughter her partner and Grand daughter arrived on Sunday evening from UK who we haven't seen since Spring 2019. Excited, overwhelmed and emotional are understatements. Celebration proper was last evening and into the night. l partook of some red stuff (have been teetotal for a few months) and just couldn't get off to sleep.

Re: Voitures Anciennes
Some of the more interesting of the 40-plus cars we have owned:
Essex, England 1959. My second MG, a 1932 F type Magna, bought from a breaker after a friend wrecked our 1930 Midget.
My mother sold it for £25 to a student when they moved house. I had recently spent that much for a set of reconditioned wheel nuts! It is still shown on the DVLA website.

Perth, Australia 1964. My 1950's Jag Mk VII. Sold to help finance our marriage in 1965.

Wiltshire ca.1982. Our 1952 TD, which I restored in 1971, with our son. We later gave it to him for transport at Uni. He sold it a few years later, not looking quite as shiny.

Somewhere in Italy ca.1990. My wife's 1986 Alfa Sprint, bought for our Silver wedding anniversary. Sold to a Breton Alfa enthusiast via LBC last year, with more energy than I now have for repairing rusty cars.

France 2015. Our third NSU Ro80, a 1973 model, bought in 1984, restored in Mallorca in 1991. I installed a 175 HP tuned Mazda 13B rotary engine in 2002, so it kept up well with modern traffic, and was used regularly. Sold to a Japanese collector. Pic taken just before it was collected and driven to England for shipping to Japan.

France 2016. Our current 1996 Audi A4 Avant, just bought with a full history and only 40k km on the clock. It has even now done only 70k km. Bought as replacement for the Ro80, used only for longish trips.

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Nomoss, my late friend Christian (le bricoleur) wrote an interesting article about his NSU Ro80 (German language). He donated it to the Automobile Museum in Mulhouse.

Re: Voitures Anciennes
Bought this new in 1970 on a tax free deal. A year later I had to either pay the tax or export it. That option prompted me to take it to Germany where I got into a bit of bother because I didn't have the right paperwork to sell it there.

In the late ‘70s I bought a Clan Crusader. This isn’t it as mine was rare as it didn’t have a sunroof. It was the same colour and had the same Cosmic wheels.

I bought my first Ro80 from their dealer in Teheran and collected it from the Neckarsulm factory in October 1968.RobertArthur wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:56 pm @Nomoss, my late friend Christian (le bricoleur) wrote an interesting article about his NSU Ro80 (German language). This was taken near Mont Saint-Victoire on the way back to England.

A few days later, on the way north at night, in a thunderstorm, on the M1 near Dunstable, I had to stop suddenly when the road in front of me was blocked with stationary traffic due to an accident. Unfortunately, the Triumph Herald behind me didn't even manage to brake before he hit me at full tilt, with the following result. It took weeks to sort out with insurance companies and even longer for repairs to be completed.

Nomoss, ten years ago this article in the German magazine Autobild about the NSU Ro80, one of the experts someone some of us have met in French DIY cyberspace. A video, a summary of this chapter in the development of the automotive industry.
