Terrible. Such a beautiful tree and it does take a long time for them to reach that size.

Round us, we are only on a yellow alerte. It has been quite breezy with bits of rain then brief breaks of sunshine, nothing like what other folks are dealing with.

I hope everyone gets through this safely.

I was so sorry to read your words and to see the photo; hopefully it’s still in one piece and you’ll be able to put it upright, firm it in, give it support and with luck it will continue into the future.

Unfortunately not.

Before consigning it to the firewood - what diameter is it? If adequately large, maybe see if a woodworker can make something from it for you once seasoned.

Never rains but it pours.
We've had low water pressure all day & now have received an email from the mairie telling us that due to the electricity cuts the water treatment plant has been shut down & potable water will be limited or cut off once the storage in the chateau d'eau is exhausted.
They don't say for how long but advise storing some water & tell us not to shower or bath until further notice.
Gonna be some smelly locals

Good grief LAF !! I hope it won't be off too long.

I always think it is a good idea to have a fair back up of potable water - yet I don't.

Lucky you are not in the UK - some idiots here would fill their baths to hoard it!

We're OK but lots of folk 'in town' still without power & some even still without water.
Mme's been out shopping this morning & the first thing everyone she met asked was "how's your power". Several were stuck like troglodites as their 'leccy blinds, without power, are still firmly shut.
Gonna be alright now though as Macron visited Brittany yesterday.

I notice in town that the snow poles went up to day.

Nothing visible yet on top of the Alps - but that will be next sign of winter.
