As an add-on to the Mistrust interview (she seems to fit that adjective well!), she said they were "urgently looking at the refugee situation". Urgently looking at? Other countries are already going out of their way to get refugees to safety, and the UK Govt are "urgently looking at". How does that look I wonder?

As to the tweet about, let them come as UK needs the labour. Absolutely disgusting.

Looking at the disgraceful (I'm using that word a lot at present) way the UK Government handled the Afghan interpreters - I am not filled with any sense of hope they will do better this time.

I wonder how committed Russian troops are to the battle. I'm reflecting on Mussolini's pushing Italy into WW2 with the majority against it. Hence the half hearted fighting by many of their forces.

Making jokes about horrific WW2 atrocities is not appropriate.

Not wishing to put words into Wilbro's mouth, but I did not take it as a joke but a serious reflection of how a 20th Century atrocity was in its way being implemented in the 21st Century by a civilised country - namely the forced labour, not the genocide.

Here's a fuller translation of the statement from Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Synyehubov. The BBC has been told Kharkiv is under Ukrainian control, but we cannot verify his other claims.

"The control over Kharkiv is completely in our hands! Armed forces of Ukraine, the national police, the territorial defence forces are working: they are clearing the city of the enemy.

"The Russian enemy is completely demoralised. Right in the city, inside Kharkiv, a group of five to 10 people have surrendered to the Ukrainian army. As soon as they see at least one representative of the armed forces of Ukraine, they surrender.

"As for the situation in the wider region, here’s what is happening now: Chuhuiv [another city] is completely under control of the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian flags are hanged on the administrative buildings.

"The offensive of the Russian aggressor is ongoing in the following directions: from Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and Belhorod.

"We see separate regiments of [Russian] military vehicles. The armed forces of Ukraine are in their positions in active fighting."

Sounds like Macron is the only Western leader Putin will give time to. No pressure then Mr Macron, this could be your moment!
