Another canicule 🙄

The 'storm' yesterday wasn't a storm and passed over quite quickly heading east.
However, this morning we have thick cloud and without the blazing sun it's actually a bit chilly, bliss.

It's overcast here and windy too. It is indeed bliss - yesterday was the first time I've felt really uncomfortable. No problem sleeping though: I keep the shutter 7/8ths down and windows open once the sun has deserted that side of the house.

I thought we might have an orage last night as the wind strengthened - but no such luck. Today started cloudy, but this afternoon the temperature has risen to 35ish and it looks as though it could reach top thirties by Wednesday. My English neighbours, who are down for their summer break, are loving it, but I’m with my French friends who want some rain.
It’ll be interesting to see what the farm shop has available tomorrow, it’s a small bio marachier who only started a couple of years ago , so she’s really struggling with some crops.

Sorry I can’t send any rain - I’ve never lost so many plants and mature shrubs nor had such straw-like lawns before and we’ve lived here fir 40 years. Even the 50 year old hedges are very unhappy.

Ditto, and it's heartbreaking as most of my garden comprises shrubs I raised from cuttings or gifts from the children. I'm currently keeping a euonymous present alive in a bucket of water.

I do hope that you won’t lose many precious plants - so hard to see so many looking unhappy or worse.

I hope that the euonymous is content paddling! They are very tolerant plants, so should be fine.

There were a few apple trees and a very long privet hedge here when we bought, everything else was planted by me; some from precious cuttings, like my ancient fuchsia from my father’s garden, which he planted in 1949. It’s really suffering.
