In the interest of axle weight balance it is sensible but linkages from driver controls to the engine need careful design. The only mid-engine cars I have driven were VW, Porsche 356, and Lotus Europa. Terrible imprecise gear changing on all of them.DominicBest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 1:32 pm an engine should be up front
Even Porsche have conceded that the engine belongs in the middle.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

The 356 was rear engined.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:44 pmIn the interest of axle weight balance it is sensible but linkages from driver controls to the engine need careful design. Yes of course. I shouldn't have included the 356 as it was basically a VW beetle in tart's clothing.DominicBest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 10:31 pmThe 356 was rear engined.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:44 pmIn the interest of axle weight balance it is sensible but linkages from driver controls to the engine need careful design. Closer to the Volkswagen Beetle was the Karmann Ghia, also rear engined. A fifties/sixties sports car to forget the forties. Not overpowered.

Almost a classic grille and an update, modern times, a face lift, a sport mesh grille for a Jaguar. Around 2009 Mitsubishi introduced the 'jet fighter grille', more aggressive looking, watch out, here I come, for the Outlander. Not a very good idea in my opinion.

Does retro count as near vintage?
