Blaze I have no doubt you are right. I think my wife picked up on 10 days on t'internet so will look at a more definitive source although you seem to be one. Thanks for that.

I tested positive for 14 days and I was well into it when I tested for the first time as I didn’t have classic symptoms,The other thing I found weird I was always considered high risk as an asthmatic who has required steroids I coughed three times while I had Covid. The week after I tested negative I had a massive flare up with my chest. Peak flow low, reduced air entry on one side etc

We had people in who said they were still testing positive 4 or 5 weeks after being infected ! But we were assured that could tell them they didn't need another PCR test as they were no longer infectious (despite being positive !).
I think Covid has had some weird long term effects on people. Perhaps it aggravates something that was already there ? Then there's Long Covid, and no real explanation why some people get it.

Probably out of date info, but when OH had it over Christmas and was hospitalised, the rule was full protective clothes* for anyone entering her room until she tested negative. There may have been a minimum time from first positive test but she tested +ve for about 10 days.

@exile Those conditions were certainly current then. Our PCR Testing Centre closed in February and things have become more relaxed since then. That said, it would seem right for hospitals to impose the wearing of masks (and rightly so) or any other precautions that they feel necessary.
As I've already said, our brief was that although people could remain positive for up to as much as 6 weeks, they would not longer be infectious after 5 days. We did advise people who wanted to return to work that they should wait for 10 days, but it wasn't obligatory.

My friend has had to give up work as a dentist because Covid triggered an underlying neurological problem and she can’t do fine work anymore
I have had allergy issues recently that came on very suddenly, and apparently a lot of people have developed problems (a lot having to attend ED ),they are thinking this maybe a manifestation of Covid/ long Covid

What surprised me was when l saw the doctor, a young man, who was standing in as a locum that he didn't wear a mask. Even when I had to pull mine down to let him do a test. He was very thorough and I was very happy with him but as l had pre-rung to say I was positive I was told to come but wear a mask I fully expected he would be too.

Thanks for asking - symptoms up and down. They are trying immunoglobulin - I had it this time last week and symptoms are easing for a while - but they still try to work out the optimum routine - and what my veins will take before they have to use a central line.
