Disadvantage of fine weather

#1 Post by tagh »

Make no mistake, the last few weeks have been beautiful and I have been enjoying the indoor outdoor life that in encourages but there is a bmol, a pea under the mattress so to speak.
Not something perhaps that one expect in a small, normally quiet village of less than 300 souls.
It is of course noise; today it is the house builders at the end of the garden, my neighbour who is doing something awful to his walls, and the guy opposite who has pinched a day off with his BIL to shout and scream as they rebuild a roof. Not sure how many different tools are involved, both manual and electrical but at times I retreat indoors to escape the harmonised crescendo of hammers and power tools and shouted instructions. I am sure that Dante would have included this in his deepest depth of hell had he known of it.
Well, there is a thunderstorm coming!

You'd have hated it here this morning.
Me on the chainsaw, mate on hand strimmer & missus on wheeled strimmer. A trio playing perfect petrol engine music
Dunno what the neighbours thought but it was only for the morning & I got the rest of next winters firewood cut up & stocked in the barn & mate + missus got the outside chook run looking neat & tidy.
Oh & Bob just looked on & didn't bark :)

Odd thing about the shouting. We only have part time neighbours at the moment. They turn up on odd days to do some sort of work that involves beating hell out of something. When there's more than two of them they are always shouting. Even when there is no motorised noise to overcome. They only seem to communicate by shouting excitedly. I'm not complaining. Thankfully they don't have kids or a pack of hunting dogs.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
