Has the whole AI thing gone too far?

A man widely seen as the godfather of artificial intelligence (AI) has quit his job, warning about the growing dangers from developments in the field.

As The Doors so neatly put it "This is the end, my beautiful friend". Well, if the so-called Godfather of AI quits his job, regretting the way it's gone - that doesn't bode well. As with all great techie things, it'll end up in the wrong hands, and that will be that.

Artificial intelligence (AI) could replace the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs, a report by investment bank Goldman Sachs says.

A nice, cheery post to start the day!

It is the next stage in the ongoing search for increased profits at the expense of the plebs - as we saw previously with offshoring and outsourcing.

But whilst the plebs continue to do nothing, enjoying the lower prices of items made in Asian sweatshops rather than thinking of local jobs lost, nothing will change.

Of course, some don't help themselves with unaffordable demands.

AI is just the next step.

AI is needed as advisors to replace politically biased PMs and head governments.
AI should be a great benefit as long as the answers it gives to the problems are debated and extrapolated in the form of a feedback loop.
AI should never be in direct control of anything.

At least this is what an AI answered me when I asked it.

Remember - Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

I have encountered the awesome stupidity of these accursed chatbots that now serve to waste our time when we have a problem. Where are the real people that used to listen to our problem and try to help? They're probably stacking shelves in a supermarket these days.
Progress. Embrace it. Resistance is futile. Resistance is futile.

The answers to this thread are from an AI source? Nah, AI answers would have been much more intelligent😜
