It is early days, but:

Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb called for “urgent research” into a mutation of the delta variant -- known as delta plus -- following a surge in Covid-19 cases in the U.K.

I was pinged this weekend by the Swiss Federal Office for Public Health regarding special entry rules for the unvaccinated travelling from India, Nepal and the UK.

So are travel restrictions from the UK about to kick off again?

I read recently that all the illnesses usually controlled (TB, gastroenteritis, flu, etc.) were increasing as health professionals have been commandeered by Covid treatment.
Presumably the UK Covid infections have surged since the govt's "freedom day"?

Believe Ive posted it before but our young, 6, granddaughter got it at school. Her dad told us on the phone that she doesn't have many symptoms just a sore throat but that the school is rife with covid like many others round Southampton.

I wonder which bright spark decided to call it "freedom day". An unbelievably stupid and dangerous handle. It should have been labelled "caution day"
The UK is going to have to introduce some measures soon. The number of daily cases in the UK is higher than France,Germany, Spain and Italy added together

The cases are increasing although inpatient numbers are staying reasonably static and deaths aren’t increasing by very much.Because of the measures in place last winter flu ,norovirus and the other winter viruses were relatively nonexistent,sadly they are coming back with a vengeance There is also a none Covid (but similar symptoms ) virus taking hospital staff down,myself included,I started being ill a week ago but it has caused an infective exacerbation of my asthma so am now on antibiotics and strong steroids.
I work between a stroke unit and an area that opens up to take patients when the rest of medicine is full The escalation unit has 8 beds the other week we had 13 patients- go figure
Rabbit is right the whole issue of ‘freedom day ‘ was ridiculous and removing the necessity to wear masks was crazy

I have an internet colleague elsewhere who has been struck down with what he described as the cold from hell. Tested negative for C19 but was knocked out completely for a week and is still well below par two weeks on.

When I rang in sick on Saturday the boss said that they had loads off with it ,I was genuinely shocked my PCR was negative
