Ah, but from behind, with two people in the vehicle, that's not so easy to see as a union jack on the bumper! ;)

@Bayleaf There's a LHD car on UK plates not far from you! :-)

Or even the front.

I remember a lot of years ago driving down a French road; OH at the wheel and with it being hot and sunny, the sun roof open and my hands held up through the gap to catch a breeze. Round the corner came a French car and the driver's reaction was to slam on the brakes and turn into the verge. Even though the road was plenty wide enough for two wide vehicles to pass (and neither of ours were wide).

Clearly he thought the driver was practicing hands off steering!

Someone on a Morris Minor page thought that putting a Y in front of UK summed up his views of the place these days.
Someone else suggested another unidentified letter could be used.

A picture of a baboons a**e would be more appropriate!

A bit premature perhaps as this only came into force two days ago but the cops here in Spain have already started pulling up UK regged cars not displaying a UK sticker.

Perhaps because the Spanish are paranoid about independent, non national tendencies in their own country, thus approving that non such exist in the UK.

I can't see French Gendarme bothering to pay close attention to stickers on the back of cars. I still see many Brit cars here, on English plates, owned by residents. There are no stickers at all on them!

Similar to here but in Brittany they keep the stickers on to try to fool the gendarmes they are "just visiting" rather than being full time residents not bothering to change their reg.
