I didn't like the new Mini when it came out but it has been a huge success. What a shame it was lost to another country.
The new Fiat 500 is very much in the spirit of the original.
Char, the 500s (original) are not that expensive, although a great deal of care needs to be taken when buying.

A lot of expertise on this club forum https://www.club-fiat-500.com/forum/index.php

I seem to remember a Fiat 500 with a Ford 1500 engine shoehorned half in/out in being used around the 80's on the SW England hill climbs.

I was racing then, but don't remember that. Mind you the only hillclimb I competed at in the SW was Wiscombe Park.

Very nice but so far out of reach.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Maybe I ought to start buying lottery tickets - how much are they?

When Fran and I used to run to Italy with the lorry back in the 80s, an English bloke in Savona used to ferry us about in his 500 and we were well impressed.

But a few years ago when I had to leave the Berlingo in Lyon for repairs the insurance company gave me a modern one to go back to collect mine when it was finished. At first I was quite pleased with it but then it became quite embarrassing, with even caravans overtaking me on the uphill sections. :o
