I have to say that in a world going crazy I could find better things to worry about than packet rice

Rightly so they can call it what they want and yes I do buy Uncle Bens rice, it's the reason for the change that annoys me. Known as whatever for decades and then all of a sudden it's all change supposedly after an incident in America, concerning a rogue cop, which suddenly became an international affair and was jumped on by all and sundry as an excuse to stir up hatred. Not wishing to turn this in to a racial platform, but what are we supposed to call our Uncles and Aunts as of now, as according to this it is a derogatory term for a person of colour, pity they never invoked that reasoning when a certain police association was formed and which proudly displays itself without any criticism whatsoever. Unfortunately it doesn't stop at packet rice, I merely made the observation that the name had ben changed, obviously to appease a certain section of society, it hasn't sent me in to an uncontrolled rage, just making the observation.

The answer I read once regarding the gentleman on the packets was that he was the company accountant, the original person was not deemed photogenic enough, we buy "Tilda" rice.

Companies rebrand and change the names of things all the time. It's still the same product I don't know why you're so upset about it.

Perhaps hes like me fed up with almost everything which we've grown up with is being changed for not being politically correct.
Its getting that you can't open your mouth these days without being ostracized in one way or another.
Where I was born in the New Forest Hampshire,my fathers farm had a small river running on the western edge down to Lepe beech, it was named the river Blackwater, I was amazed when looking up the farm on google maps to see how things had changed that the river is now named river Darkwater, to my mind thats taking it over the top.

Well thanks to you all I now know that when I do see Ben's rice it's Uncle Ben's, cos I like their rice (traditional 20min type).

Maybe, just maybe people have grown up with not-so-casual racist branding, like golliwogs, aunt Bess, and uncle ben.

That’s wrong and is, rightly, being addressed with some kicking and screaming.

Get a grip it’s food and tastes the same whatever colour it is.
