Moving from UK to France - removal companies?
I will be making the move sometime in the next six months (please God, BJ & covid!) and wondered if anyone had, fairly recently, used a removal company they would recommend?
Although I am cutting down massively of stuff, it will still be a decent size load ie not a part load.

We used removal companies many times in the UK and twice to France. Without hesitation I would recommend White & Co. We never had any breakages, loss or damage with them. We have used other companies , but none matched Whites for efficiency.
Of course we haven't used a Uk company for a long time, but friends say Whites are still good ...
We used an excellent French company, Ingrid Maingret, for the move to where we live now. They also do international moves, but obviously it would be easier for you to use a UK company !
Moving can be pretty traumatic but a good removal company does take so much of the worry away.
Fingers crossed for. you

We used Hildbrands from Kent to bring pa-in-laws furniture we wanted, (a bit far from you)
They were excelent, thinking about it they brought a load down for someone in Devon so would do it.
Good luck, hope it all happens soon.

I've used Whites before & also Brittania, both of whom were good.
As you say, Blaze, a good removal company is well worth paying for.
I'm off to France in a couple of weeks for a recce & then back to put house on the market. House has never been so clean & tidy!!!

Are you going to live with the family while you find something?

No!! Much as I love them & we all get on very well, I think living with them could be a disaster. Not fair on my lovely daughter in law.
Hope to rent for a year or so, just in case I decide I want to come back!! I think that is a very slim chance, but with everything that's happened in the last year I think I'd be foolish to rush into buying straight away.

Also, it will give you a better idea of where you want to live in the area. demi

Aren't you worried that by that time UK prices might have spiraled out of reach and have burnt your boats selling?
Although we have no intention of moving back we both know that we couldn't afford to, not if buying anyway.
BTW we used Pickfords for our move, back in '99, no complaints from me although Fran moaned about something being broken. Couldn't spot it myself.
