What's for Dinner?

A hyped up Bohnensuppe. Not the one granny-in-law used to make but she was German. This one's with French old-style garlic sausage rather than pork.

Yesterday we went out for lunch and had a delicious meal at one of our favourite family-run hotels/restaurants.

The starter was to die for; St Jacques with mango, beet tiny mushrooms. There must have been 3/4 different beets, mango at least 4 ways and tiny bean sprouts topping the salad. In all, there were about 10 distinct flavours on the plate.

In the evening we just had beautiful fresh bread and cheese.

Tonight I'm cooking a Brown Ale Cottage Pie from a recipe published in the recent freebie Etcetera magazine.

Same as last night once again one of our favourites, sausage savoury, our own sausages with six different veg to finish them up before tomorrows market. All slow cooked in wine.
Be enough for another two dinners, would bother some but never do us.

We made a batch of pies, did a beef and ale stew a couple of day ago and yesterday morning did mince beef and onion, filled tinfoil trays with pastry, spooned each batch into them, top on, a little "M" on the mince ones, our trays are all one colour, then in the freezer, two saved for tea tonight.

The Brown Ale Cottage Pie was awful. I shan't be making that again. The brown sugar in the recipe made it incredibly sweet and it could have been served with custard as a dessert!

Had a very large & long lunchtime resto AGM meal with the Bouley Boys on friday. Take away Langue de Boeuf on Saturday & Escalope Quiche/salad on Sunday from the same resto.
This evening we're pushing the boat out & having 'home made' fried onion & cheese burgers in brioche buns. :)

It all looks lovely Vic.

Tonight we're having roast shoulder of lamb with roasties, parsnips, coco beans and cauliflower cheese with gravy. No pudding as I doubt either of us will finish the main course!
