My wife ordered some wormers on Oct 23 from Wormers Direct who she has dealt with for years paying £20 postage which she assumed covered paperwork. These are now stuck in customs who are asking her to jump through hoops to get them delivered.

So far they've asked for, & been sent a vets ordenance ( €12 fee from vet ) & are now asking for 'certificet d'accompagnement' with a number 2042 which she can't find on the internet.

Wormers Direct say they have enclosed all the correct paperwork required by Parcelforce & the french customs chap dealing with this is on holiday.

What a mess!

One of the pleasure's of buying anything in the UK nowadays, just seems to be one obstacle after another, we normally get our wormers for the cats from the vets over here, doggy doesn't seem to suffer with them, but then she doesn't actively eat mice and birds who pass all their parasites onto the cats.

I bought mine (ordered I think on the same day as yours) from Viovet without any prescription. They charged about £12.75 for delivery and I paid another 12.50€ via La Poste for charges within France. It was very straightforward and the wormers were inside the boys within a week!

Perhaps you could give Viovet a try next time.

It's also worth doing a comparison with your French vet. I used to buy all petcare products in UK but now most suppliers want a prescription, and the vet is selling the same products at very similar prices to UK. In some cases cheaper and without postage/customs hassle and expense.

We buy Drontal for our cat from the local vet. Gamme Verte sells Drontal but we found it more expensive that buying from the vets.

We've always bought wormers and other vet products in France. A friend who runs an equestrian centre got horsey wormers in bulk so we got them very cheaply through her. Dog wormers - from our vet, reasonably priced and no hassle.

Exactly our scenario when we had our (now departed) pusscat .. more reasonable from the vet.

The prices round here tend to go as follows: Gamm Vert = silly, French internet suppliers = not competitive if you've got to send a prescription, Pharmacie = slightly dearer than vet, Vet = best option

We always get our horses poo analysed & buy the wormer to target the very few worms they have. Our vet didn't stock/couldn't get (can't remember which) this wormer so we always bought it from the UK as my OP. The vets now say they can get the required stuff & are ordering it for us.
Dog & cat wormers are bought online (fr) or from the vet & now are about the same price.
Our rescue mutt has a tumour which affects his liver & gives him Encephalitis which is 'interesting' to say the least when he suddenly jumps up like he's been electrocuted & tries to hide from this 'thing'. After much experimenting with vets suggested treatments we seem to have it under control & thankfully one of the medicines, of which we need about 30 ml per day, is available without prescription from the local pharmacie at 3€/200 ml against the vets 9€/50ml so a great saving. Silycure is another medicine he takes at 53€ online & 89€ from the vet per box of 75. 1 1/2 tablets taken per day.
Maybe these sort of costs were the reason the old boy was abondoned but to us he's worth every centime. The vets gave him a few days to live not long after he came to live with us & had his first 'turn' but almost a year on he's running & playing like a young'un.
