One week's worth of phone calls & mails after my OP & sending more paperwork continually being asked for by the now three people from La Poste my missus has now been told that the senders should have included yet another form with the parcel. What this form is she doesn't know 'cos by now she had steam coming out of her ears & was telling the bloke from La Poste she was fed up with their intransigence & they should send the parcel back to the sender or shove it where the sun don't shine.
Once either of these is done I can see her having a few very choice words with the jobsworths who are pretty obviously playing silly buggers over a sale of about 40 quid inc. vat plus 20 quid postage.
Certainly puts a damper on buying any more stuff from the UK.

Or maybe change who you buy from. I know quite a few people who have bought via Viovet with no problems or demands for extra papers, prescriptions etc.

The company which sent the product has said that we are only the 2nd problem delivery out of quite few sent out but they are now reconsidering supplying to the EU based on negative feedback from other exporters & the minimum profit they make on the product.
J has got some wormers coming from our vet so should be no probs in the future.

Sometimes it just isn't worth the hassle, unless you need something that you just cannot source in France. Horse wormers etc aren't weekly requirements so if it costs a little more but I have the convenience of getting something here, I'd take that route.

So far the only thing I've had to pay customs/duties for (or whatever these charges are) was an order for straight minerals (for the horses) from the UK that I simply couldn't buy in France. A good month stuck in the customs shed in Bordeaux whilst customs officers and I argued it out. In the end, they capitulated (to a face-saving extent) and I paid up (grudgingly) and something they'd said I couldn't possibly have, was delivered.

The people at La Poste acting for La Douane have now verbally said that the parcel would be sent back to the UK supplier tonight & the supplier has agreed to refund us.
It's obvious from the comments from various French parties that they are using these sort of intransigent tactics to reinforce their dislike of Brexit as the B word came up many times during my wife's conversations with them.
What a total mess over a 40 quid package.

Have you looked at Orchard Equestrian based in Ireland. Started using them a few years ago and were cheaper than local vet even with cost of delivery. We will be checking prices again this to see if vet is more competitive
